Hyderabad, July 6: Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) CV Anand on Monday said the police are preparing a comprehensive action plan to curb marijuana trafficking across the state. He made the announcement after inaugurating a new police station in Manuguru, Bhadradri Kothagudem district.
The DGP called upon every police officer to intensify efforts against drug trafficking and prevent narcotics from reaching the youth.
Addressing police personnel, CV Anand warned that those involved in cultivating marijuana would face stringent action. He stressed the need for police to remain committed to maintaining law and order while ensuring public friendly policing.
The DGP also urged officers to adopt artificial intelligence based technologies to improve policing and deliver better services to citizens.
He directed senior officials to strengthen measures to prevent drug abuse among young people and tackle emerging forms of crime effectively.
CV Anand said Maoist activities have been brought under control in Telangana. He advised the police to focus on challenges such as drug trafficking, cybercrime and road accidents.
He also encouraged officers to continue providing efficient and people centric policing across the state.
