iQOO 16 India Launch Likely Scrapped Amid Memory Price Surge

Hyderabad, July 6: Rising memory chip prices may have forced Vivo-owned iQOO to scrap the India launch of its iQOO 16, industry sources and leaks indicate.

Tipster Yogesh Brar reported that iQOO 16’s India debut may be cancelled because current memory rates would push its price above Rs 85,000.

He added iQOO plans only one budget Z-series phone this year and has dropped other launches. Crossing the Rs 85,000 mark would hurt iQOO’s value positioning in India, where the brand competes on aggressive pricing.

The iQOO 15 started at Rs 72,999, already higher than the iQOO 13’s Rs 54,999. OnePlus, a close rival, has priced its latest flagship above Rs 85,000, narrowing iQOO’s pricing gap. Leaks still suggest the iQOO 16 could launch in China with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset.

Other makers report similar disruptions: CMF shelved its Phone 3 Pro plan this year, and Nothing said it will not release a successor to the Phone (3) in 2026. OEMs including Apple also raised device prices amid rising memory costs.
