According to Iranian state media, the strikes damaged key facilities, including the Kalantari Port and the maritime traffic control tower. Power supply in parts of the port city was also disrupted, while emergency teams launched rescue operations.

The reported attack marks the first strike on Chabahar Port since the US and Iran announced a ceasefire. The United States said the operation targeted infrastructure and equipment that could allegedly be used to support attacks on commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

Chabahar is strategically located on Iran’s southeastern coast, outside the Strait of Hormuz and near the Gulf of Oman. The deep water port is a key gateway for Iran’s maritime trade with the Indian Ocean.

India has invested in the development of Chabahar Port to improve trade connectivity with Afghanistan and Central Asia while bypassing Pakistan. The project is considered a vital part of India’s regional connectivity strategy.
