According to Sanatan traditions and astrology, devotees believe that offering prayers to the Tulsi plant on Yogini Ekadashi can invoke the blessings of Lord Vishnu, remove financial obstacles, and bring peace and prosperity to the household.

Tulsi, revered as the most beloved of Lord Vishnu, plays a central role in Vishnu worship.

Several traditional rituals associated with the sacred plant are observed by devotees on this day with the belief that they enhance spiritual well-being and family harmony.

One of the most common rituals is lighting a pure cow ghee lamp near the Tulsi plant during the evening. While lighting the lamp, devotees chant the mantra “Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya” and perform 11 or 21 circumambulations around the Tulsi plant.

According to religious belief, this practice removes negative energy from the home and promotes happiness and peace.

Devotees also offer Tulsi leaves to Lord Vishnu or Lord Krishna while presenting food offerings.

Hindu scriptures consider worship of Lord Vishnu incomplete without Tulsi leaves. Since Tulsi leaves should not traditionally be plucked on Ekadashi, devotees are advised to use leaves collected in advance.

Another popular remedy involves using dried Tulsi roots. Devotees tie a small portion of dried Tulsi root or sacred soil from the Tulsi plant in a yellow cloth after touching it to Lord Vishnu’s feet during worship. The bundle is then placed in a cash box or locker. Many devotees believe this ritual helps improve financial stability, attract prosperity, and recover pending payments.

For those facing obstacles in their careers or businesses, reciting the Tulsi Namashtakam before the Tulsi plant is considered highly auspicious.

Those unfamiliar with the hymn may chant Tulsi’s eight sacred names—Vrinda, Vrindani, Vishwapavani, Vishwapoojita, Pushpasara, Nandini, Krishnajeevani, and Tulsi—108 times as part of their prayers.

Devotees seeking harmony in married life or wishing for an early marriage also observe a special ritual on Yogini Ekadashi.

They offer a red chunari and traditional marital items to Tulsi Mata while praying for marital happiness, family well-being, and good fortune.

While these practices are rooted in Hindu religious traditions and devotional beliefs, they are matters of personal faith and cultural observance.
