Hyderabad, July 9 (Maxim News): Osmania University secured 151 ICCR scholarships for foreign students from 2025 onwards, marking a sharp rise from just four such scholarships in the academic year 2024.
The Office of International Affairs at Osmania University welcomed new international students on campus as part of its ongoing internationalisation drive under Vice Chancellor Prof. Kumar Molugaram.
The OIA formally welcomed the new ICCR scholarship recipients at the OU Campus Hostel. Prof. B. Vijaya, Director of the Office of International Affairs, addressed the gathering of female foreign students.
She stressed the importance of resolving student grievances promptly. She said addressing concerns effectively is key to attracting and retaining more international students at Osmania University.
Furthermore, the ICCR, or Indian Council for Cultural Relations, is a Government of India body that funds higher education scholarships for students from foreign countries.
Osmania University has been working to increase its share of these scholarships. The jump from 4 to 151 scholarships in a single year reflects the university’s growing international reach and academic credibility.
Osmania University Plans International Academic and Cultural Fest in September or October 2026

Additionally, the ICCR scholarship intake is separate from the university’s existing pool of self-financed foreign students. Together, these two groups make up the international student community currently studying at Osmania University.
The OIA said its primary objective is to help foreign students settle in comfortably and make the most of their academic stay in India.
Moreover, Osmania University plans to organise a large-scale International Academic and Cultural Fest after all admissions are complete.
The event is scheduled for September or October 2026. It will bring together international and Indian students to celebrate academic and cultural exchange. The OIA said the fest will be a key milestone in the university’s internationalisation calendar for the year.
The OIA acknowledged the contributions of all officials and staff who helped achieve the increase in ICCR scholarship numbers. These include Vice Chancellor Prof. M. Kumar, Registrar Prof. Naresh Reddy, OSD to VC Prof. Jitender Kumar Naik, Deans, Principals, Heads, and Chairpersons, as well as Joint Directors Dr. Hameed and Dr. Amanchi Nageshwara Rao, and several administrative staff members across the OIA office.
As a result of these efforts, Osmania University is strengthening its position as an international higher education destination.
The university has also built academic partnerships with foreign universities as part of its broader internationalisation strategy.
Officials said these partnerships and scholarship numbers will continue to grow in the coming academic years.
