Hyderabad, July 14 (Maxim News): The Golconda TMRIES girl incident remains under police investigation, while the Helping Hand Foundation (HHF) has clarified that its role is limited to providing healthcare services only after receiving requests through its call centre or dedicated health application.
The foundation said it became involved only after being informed about the incident on June 25 and facilitated the student’s transfer to Niloufer Hospital.
The clarification comes after an incident at the Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society (TMRIES) Girls Junior College in Golconda, where a student allegedly gave birth in a hostel bathroom and the newborn was later found after reportedly being thrown from a window.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the case.
Golconda TMRIES Girl Incident: HHF Explains Healthcare Services
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Helping Hand Foundation Director Mustafa Hassan Askari said the organisation provides healthcare services to students across TMRIES institutions under an agreement with the state government.
He stated that the foundation responds only when information is received through its call centre or official health application.
According to Askari, HHF maintains health records for students enrolled in TMRIES institutions. He said the organisation receives approximately Rs 6.7 lakh per month, or about Rs 82 lakh annually, under the contract.
He added that nearly 80 percent of the funds are used to pay salaries for medical personnel, while the organisation’s administrative component accounts for about 2.8 percent of the total amount received.
Askari said HHF received information about the Golconda TMRIES girl incident on June 25. Following the alert, the organisation dispatched an ambulance and shifted the student to Niloufer Hospital for treatment. He said this was the extent of HHF’s involvement in the case.
Responding to questions about the student’s pregnancy, Askari said the organisation could not identify the pregnancy during routine health visits because the student was reportedly irregular in attending the institution.
He said she may have missed scheduled health checks and otherwise appeared to participate in regular campus activities. He added that observations regarding the student’s attendance and day to day supervision fall within the responsibility of the institution’s staff and caretakers.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad Police are continuing their investigation to establish the sequence of events and determine whether any lapses occurred. Officials have not yet released the findings of the inquiry.
Askari also stated that the student is not a minor and does not belong to a minority community. Authorities are expected to disclose further details after the investigation is completed. (Maxim News)
