Telangana Cabinet Meeting To Review Irrigation, Musi Project

Hyderabad, July 16 (Maxim News): The Telangana Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, will hold an emergency meeting on Friday to discuss key governance and development issues, including major irrigation projects, the Musi River Rejuvenation Phase 1, drought conditions, and several pending infrastructure proposals involving the Central Government.

The meeting will begin at 3 pm in the Cabinet Hall on the sixth floor of the Telangana Secretariat. Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju has issued official orders for the meeting.

Additionally, he directed all Special Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, and Secretaries to remain available at headquarters during the Cabinet session.

The Cabinet is expected to review the progress of major irrigation projects across the state.

It will also assess the status of the Musi River Rejuvenation Phase 1 works, which remain one of the government’s flagship urban infrastructure initiatives. Besides infrastructure, ministers are likely to discuss the prevailing rainfall deficit and the possible impact of El Niño conditions on agriculture.

The government is also expected to examine measures to protect farmers from drought related challenges. Officials may present reports on water availability, reservoir levels, and contingency plans for the current agricultural season.

Furthermore, the Cabinet could consider additional support measures if weather conditions continue to remain unfavourable.

Another important agenda item is expected to be the ongoing interstate water disputes. The Cabinet may review the recent developments in the Godavari Banakacherla project case after the Supreme Court issued notices to neighbouring states on the petition filed by the Telangana government.

Ministers are also likely to discuss matters relating to the Krishna and Godavari River Management Boards and review recent consultations held with neighbouring states.

In addition, the meeting may examine the status of various development projects that require approvals or coordination with the Central Government. Officials are expected to brief the Cabinet on pending proposals and implementation timelines.

The emergency Cabinet meeting comes at a crucial time as the state government faces multiple administrative, irrigation, and weather related challenges. Therefore, several important policy and governance decisions are expected to emerge from the discussions. (Maxim News)
