Washington, July 20: US Vice President JD Vance and his wife Usha Vance have welcomed their fourth child, a baby boy named Alec Neel Vance. Vance announced the birth on social media, saying both the mother and newborn are healthy.
The Vice President said his three children were delighted to welcome their younger brother into the family. The couple’s new son is named Alec Neel Vance.
JD Vance Fourth Child Marks Historic First
JD Vance and Usha Vance married in 2014. They already have three children: sons Ivan and Vivek, and daughter Mirabel. Ivan is nine years old, Vivek is six, and Mirabel is four.
Usha Vance is of Telugu origin. Observers noted that the name “Neel” appears to reflect the family’s cultural heritage.
The birth is historically significant because JD Vance is the first sitting US Vice President in more than 150 years to welcome a child while in office.
The previous instance dates back to 1870, when then US Vice President Schuyler Colfax and his wife Ellen welcomed a child during his tenure.
