Hyderabad: Hyderabad City Police Commissioner CV Anand on Tuesday suspended Jubilee Hills Station House Officer (SHO) U. Srinivasulu Reddy following allegations of sexual assault, intimidation and physical abuse made by a 31-year-old woman from Sangareddy district.
The woman submitted a complaint to the Director General of Police (DGP), alleging that the police officer sexually assaulted her, forced her to undergo an abortion, threatened her, physically assaulted her and took money from her.
Woman alleges assault, abortion and intimidation
According to the complaint, the woman first came into contact with Srinivasulu Reddy in 2021 when she approached the Ameenpur police station to resolve a family dispute. At the time, he was serving as an inspector at the police station.
She alleged that the officer later contacted her regarding the case and gradually began demanding sexual favours. The complaint further states that he asked her to visit his residence in KPHB and allegedly threatened to come to her house after she refused.
The woman claimed that the officer later sexually assaulted her at his residence. She also alleged that after she became pregnant, he took her to a hospital where she underwent an abortion.
In her complaint, the woman further alleged that Srinivasulu Reddy had paid ₹25 lakh to secure his posting as the Jubilee Hills SHO.
Following the allegations, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner CV Anand placed the officer under suspension. Further investigation into the complaint is underway.
