Hyderabad, August 8: Heavy rains lashed several parts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh overnight, bringing relief from recent hot weather.
Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Sangareddy, Suryapet and Nalgonda received rain with thunder and lightning. Several other areas also reported showers.
In Andhra Pradesh, Guntur and YSR Kadapa districts recorded rainfall. The sudden weather change offered relief to people facing high daytime temperatures.
The Hyderabad Meteorological Department said rainfall activity remains focused mainly along the Telangana Maharashtra border areas.
Officials also forecast light to moderate rain in Hyderabad and some other parts of Telangana over the next few hours.
Officials warn people as rainfall continues
Meanwhile, rain activity remained strong across several districts of Andhra Pradesh. Parvathipuram Manyam and Alluri Sitharama Raju districts reported scattered showers with thunderstorms.
The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority said several mandals in Kadapa district recorded heavy rainfall.
As a result, officials urged residents to remain alert amid the changing weather conditions. They also advised farmers to monitor local weather updates.
People living in low lying areas should exercise extra caution, officials said. They also advised residents to stay away from electric poles, wires and other electrical installations during rainfall.
The overnight showers came after several days of hot and humid conditions across the Telugu states. However, rainfall intensity and distribution may vary between districts.
Authorities continue to monitor rainfall and weather conditions. Further warnings may follow if heavy rain or thunderstorms intensify in affected areas.
