Hyderabad: A retired Army man was killed and two others were seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident at Hydershah Kote near Gandipet on Sunday night.
The accident occurred near SMP School when a speeding Mahindra SUV 350 allegedly rammed into the retired Army employee while he was walking along the road.
The impact reportedly threw the victim into the air. He suffered severe injuries and died at the spot.
The SUV then allegedly hit two people travelling on a bike taxi. Both sustained serious injuries and were shifted to a private hospital. One of them reportedly suffered a leg fracture.

According to eyewitnesses, four young men were travelling in the SUV. They allegedly abandoned the vehicle at the accident spot and fled immediately after the crash.
Narsingi police reached the scene and began investigating the incident. Police reportedly traced the vehicle using its registration number and found that it was registered in Shamshabad.
Eyewitnesses said the SUV was being driven at a high speed, creating panic among other road users.
There are also allegations that the occupants may have been under the influence of alcohol. However, police have not yet confirmed whether drunk driving was involved.
Police have registered a case and are working to identify and apprehend those responsible for the crash.
Investigators are examining CCTV footage and other evidence to determine whether overspeeding, drunk driving or other factors caused the fatal accident.
The incident has once again raised concerns over road safety and reckless driving on Hyderabad’s outskirts.
