Hyderabad, August 14: At least 21 passengers were seriously injured after a private bus overturned on the Hyderabad-Bengaluru National Highway in Mahabubnagar district early Thursday morning.
According to police, the bus was traveling from Hyderabad towards Arunachalam in Tamil Nadu when the accident occurred near Bhootpur.
The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and overturn. Most passengers were asleep when the accident took place.
The sudden crash triggered panic as passengers screamed for help inside the overturned bus.
21 Injured After Bus Overturns Near Bhootpur
Locals and highway patrol personnel rushed to the spot after noticing the accident. They reportedly broke the bus windows and helped passengers escape from the vehicle.
The 21 injured passengers were shifted to the Mahabubnagar Government Hospital in 108 ambulances. Some sustained serious injuries, while others suffered minor injuries.
Doctors are providing emergency treatment to those injured in the accident.
Bhootpur police also reached the spot and regulated traffic on the busy highway.
Preliminary information suggests that over speeding or the driver possibly falling asleep may have contributed to the accident. Police are investigating the exact cause of the crash.
