KCR calls Gadkari on elevated corridors on Warangal, Bengaluru and Vijayawada highways

Hyderabad, May 1 (Maxim News): Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao on Monday requested Union Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari to take up construction of elevated corridors on the Warangal, Bengaluru and Vijayawada highways, worth Rs.1,410 crore, to ease traffic congestion along these routes.

The Chief Minister, who spoke to the Union Minister over phone on Monday, urged him to release Rs.950 crore for the construction of a 6.49km-elevated corridor from Uppal to Ghatkesar on the Hyderabad-Warangal highway, Rs.290 crore for the 10km-elevated corridor from Aramgarh to Shamshabad Airport on the Hyderabad – Mahabubnagar – Bengaluru route and Rs.170 Crore for the construction of a utility corridor (including service roads) of 26km on the Hyderabad-Suryapet-Vijayawada route.

The Uppal to Ghatkesar stretch was of over 15km, with the Elevated Corridor project being for 6.40km. The remaining six lane work would be done by the State government, he said. The proposals put together would cost Rs.1,410 Crore.

The Union Minister has positively responded to the request, according to officials.

The Chief Minister also spoke Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao and Chief Advisor to the Government Rajiv Sharma, who are in Delhi, to meet Gadkari to submit a memorandum and estimates on the proposals.
