Telangana Railway Development Gets Major Push: Kishan Reddy

Hyderabad, August 31 (Maxim News): Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy said the Centre is working to strengthen railway infrastructure across Telangana.

Kishan Reddy made the remarks on Monday while inspecting modernisation works at the Mahabubnagar railway station. Mahabubnagar MP D.K. Aruna accompanied him during the visit.

The Union minister said the government is focusing on new railway tracks and upgrades to existing railway infrastructure. He said the Centre aims to transform Mahabubnagar into a railway hub.

Kishan Reddy said Telangana has received five Vande Bharat trains from the central government. He also claimed that around 100 new trains became available in Telangana during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 10 year tenure.

The minister said railway development has gained greater attention in the state in recent years. He also highlighted investments in station modernisation and passenger facilities.

42 Railway Stations Under Development in Telangana

Kishan Reddy said the Centre is developing 42 railway stations across Telangana at the same time. He said the government is giving priority to modern infrastructure at railway stations.

According to the minister, railway stations were in poor condition before 2014. He said the situation has changed under the Modi government.

Kishan Reddy also stressed the importance of passenger participation in keeping railway stations clean. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants railway stations to offer facilities comparable with airports.

The minister also highlighted the increase in railway budgetary support for Telangana. He said the combined railway budget for the undivided state stood at Rs 886 crore before 2014.

For 2026 to 2027, he said the Centre allocated Rs 5,454 crore specifically for Telangana. Kishan Reddy said the increase reflects the government’s focus on railway infrastructure in the state.

He further said Telangana had faced neglect in railway development since Independence. The minister described the current expansion as a major shift in the sector.

Kishan Reddy also spoke about bullet train projects. He said India plans to introduce seven bullet trains and claimed Telangana would receive three of them.

He said the Centre is investing Rs 5 lakh crore in bringing bullet train services to the country. The minister described the proposed expansion as a significant development for the railway sector.

He also said the Kavach safety system would be introduced experimentally in Telangana. According to Kishan Reddy, the system aims to help prevent railway accidents.

The minister said the state government and the Centre would continue working on railway infrastructure. He added that new tracks, station upgrades and safety measures would strengthen connectivity across Telangana.
