Hyderabad, Sept. 4: Mailardevpally police have arrested three people in connection with the murder of Mohammed Abdul Rauf on September 2.
The accused were identified as Mohammed Javeed alias Hekla Javeed, Mohammed Abdullah and Shaik Arif.
Police said Javeed developed a grudge against Rauf over the alleged death of his younger brother Sajid in Karnataka in 2024.
Police Uncover Motive Behind Mailardevpally Murder
During interrogation, Javeed allegedly told police that Rauf had threatened and mocked him and his associates. The accused then allegedly planned to kill him.
On September 2 around 11 pm, the three accused allegedly intercepted Rauf while he was travelling in his auto.
Police said the accused used pepper spray before attacking him with knives. Rauf suffered multiple stab injuries and died in the attack.
The accused allegedly fled after the murder and discarded the weapons, blood stained clothes and pepper spray bottles in bushes near Palle Cheruvu.
Police apprehended the three accused near Aramghar around 6 am on September 4. They were allegedly attempting to flee towards Basavakalyan in Karnataka.
During the investigation, police recovered Rauf’s mobile phone and other belongings from Javeed’s possession.
Police said the accused also disclosed the location where they had allegedly discarded the weapons and other material connected to the crime.
According to the police, Javeed is involved in 180 cases registered across Hyderabad, surrounding districts and Karnataka.
Police said Arif is involved in three cases, while Abdullah has one case registered against him.
The investigation is being conducted by the Mailardevpally Police under the supervision of the Rajendranagar Deputy Commissioner of Police.
