Hyderabad, Sept. 15 (Maxim News) : The Commissioner’s Task Force, Shamshabad Zone Team, along with RGIA police, arrested an alleged interstate ganja peddler and seized 8 kg of ganja.
Police identified the accused as Raj Pradhan alias Gaura, 22, a farmer from Bartini in Berhampur, Odisha. Police also identified Ram Brada alias Bolaram alias Ram, a native of Odisha, as the alleged source of the ganja. He is absconding, according to police.
The seized material includes 8 kg of ganja and one mobile phone. Police valued the seized contraband and phone at around ₹4 lakh.
Accused allegedly planned to sell ganja in Hyderabad
According to police, Pradhan came to Hyderabad with the ganja intending to sell it to customers in the city and surrounding areas. Police said he allegedly procured the contraband from Ram Brada at ₹8,000 per 2-kg packet.
The accused allegedly planned to sell the ganja for ₹30,000 to ₹40,000 to customers, aiming to make a large profit.
Acting on a tip-off, the Shamshabad Zone Task Force team apprehended Pradhan and seized the ganja. He was subsequently handed over to RGIA police for further investigation.
8 kg ganja seized
RGIA police registered a case in Crime No. 815/2026 under Section 8(c) read with 20(b)(ii)(B) of the NDPS Act. The investigation is underway.
Hyderabad City Police appealed to youngsters and students to stay away from ganja and other drugs. Police also urged parents to monitor their children’s activities and share information about drug-related activities with the police.
The arrest was carried out by Shamshabad Zone Inspector D. Krishna Mohan, SIs S. Seshu, K. Mansoor Ali and N. Narasinga Rao, along with Task Force staff and RGIA police.
