Delhi/Hyderabad, Sept 15 (Maxim News): The Center Government has sanctioned many houses in Telugu states like Andhra Pradesh and Telangana under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana scheme. Union Minister Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar said that it was the first time in the history that houses have been sanctioned by such a big number for the poor in the Telugu states. He thanked Prime Minister Modi and Union Minister for Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan for taking such a decision to fulfill the dream of the poor people of Telugu states. Out of the target of the construction of two crore houses for the poor people, five lakh houses have been allocated to the Telugu states. Between 2019-24, 1,78,000 houses were allocated to Andhra Pradesh, out of which only 42,000 houses were constructed, and the remaining houses were pending, while another 1,22,000 houses have been sanctioned to the state. Union Minister Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar said that they would complete them within a period of two to three years.
As no house was allocated earlier to the people of Telangana since the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana scheme was initiated as the previous ruling party has said no to the scheme, but two lakh houses will be constructed in Telangana under this scheme due to the request of the present Government, which came into power after the Congress party.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana scheme, every beneficiary will get basic help of financial aid of ₹1.20 lakh from the Centre, and along with other schemes, they will get benefits of ₹1.70 lakh to ₹1.80 lakh. Under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan scheme, the beneficiaries get an extra amount of ₹12,000 with the construction for the making of toilets along with house construction. To help the poor people further, the Center Government has taken many initiatives to promote and support the scheme. Recently, the Center has relaxed the eligibility criteria for the scheme. Their monthly family income should be less than ₹15,000. Earlier it was ₹10,000. The Centre has clarified that the possession of personal items like a bike or a refrigerator will not disqualify a person applying under this scheme; it is expected that it will benefit many members of lower-class societies. The geo-tagging process for selecting the beneficiaries is being done through the ‘Awas Plus’ app besides the self-survey facility that has been introduced to facilitate the common people. The Government has planned to complete all the newly sanctioned houses and pending old houses within the next two to three years. (Maxim News)
