Talasani Srinivas Yadav Calls Voting A Constitutional Right

Hyderabad, Oct. 11: Former minister and MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav said voting is a constitutional right and accused the Election Commission of India of violating voters’ rights.

Talasani Srinivas Yadav made the remarks at a graduate voter registration programme held on PG Road in the Sanath Nagar constituency. He questioned the need for existing graduates to register repeatedly and called for a system focused on eligible new graduates.

Talasani questioned whether graduates aged 50 or 60 should have to register again every time. He praised the Constitution drafted by Dr B. R. Ambedkar and said it commands respect across the world.

He alleged that lakhs of votes had been deleted across the country during a special voter registration drive. He also questioned the authority behind the deletions and said protests against the Election Commission’s approach were continuing nationwide.

Talasani further claimed that courts had criticised the Election Commission’s position. He urged eligible graduates to exercise their democratic right and complete voter registration by November 6.
