Vijayawada/Hyderabad, Sept 15 (Maxim News): The Andhra Pradesh government has increased the number of divisions in the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) from 64 to 86.
The coalition government issued a Gazette notification to expand the civic body’s divisions. The move aims to improve administration and make civic services more accessible to residents.
The reorganisation considers the city’s growing population and geographical expansion. Officials expect the new division structure to make it easier to address local issues and deliver welfare schemes and development programmes.
VMC elections to be held with 86 divisions
The government has clarified that the upcoming local body elections will be conducted based on the newly formed 86 divisions.
The Gazette notification marks a step towards the election process. The restructuring is also expected to bring civic administration closer to residents through smaller administrative units.
The government has taken the decision with the stated objective of strengthening local governance and improving service delivery across Vijayawada. (Maxim News)
