TG SAFE Suspends FSSAI Licences of Nine Hyderabad Food Establishments

Hyderabad: The Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) has suspended the FSSAI licences of nine food establishments in LB Nagar following a special enforcement drive conducted on Wednesday, September 16.

The establishments have been directed to stop business operations immediately after officials detected multiple food safety violations during inspections.

Ten enforcement teams comprising Food Safety Officers and police personnel inspected 20 restaurants, hotels and manufacturing units in the area. Officials reported several violations, including contaminated and spoiled food, pest infestations, unhygienic premises, expired products and poor record maintenance.

Spoiled Meat, Pest Infestation Found During Inspections

The establishments whose FSSAI licences were suspended are Hotel Sangeeth Grand Restaurant and Bar, Bahar Biryani Cafe, Balaji Pheni and Namkeen, Bhuvaneshwari Oil Industries, Hotel Sindhura East Court, Chemistry Bar and Kitchen at Surabhi Grand, New Limra Hotel, N Village Multicuisine Restaurant at Champapet and Hotel Kinara Grand Restaurant and Bar at Vanasthalipuram.

At Sangeeth Grand, officials reported cockroach infestation, expired food products, pest-infested food articles and the use of synthetic food colours.

Bahar Biryani Café was reportedly found with rodent infestation and stale chicken, mutton and prawns. Officials also noted improper segregation of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food and unhygienic premises.

TG SAFE teams collected 20 food samples on suspicion of adulteration during the enforcement drive. Spoiled and rotten vegetables, stale meat and raw materials, including insect- or pest-infested groundnuts and flour, were discarded at the establishments.

Meanwhile, improvement notices will be issued to Ramakrishna Oil Mill, Green Land Dhaba, Kefi Cafe, and One Lounge Bar and Kitchen. Officials will revisit the establishments to verify compliance with food safety requirements.

Show-cause notices will also be issued to Galaxy Cafe and Restaurant, AnTeRa Nagole, Hotel Saradhi Grand, Lucky Restaurant, Nagole, Vijaya Raghavendra Hotel, Bhagavati Misthan Bhandar and The Joint Al Mandi, TG SAFE said.

Officials said further action would be taken based on compliance and the findings of the food sample analysis.
