Hyderabad, Sept. 20: Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar criticised the Congress over the upcoming Khairatabad by-election.
Speaking to reporters in Karimnagar on Sunday, Sanjay said Congress would face a difficult contest in the by-election.
The Khairatabad seat fell vacant after the Telangana High Court disqualified Danam Nagender as MLA. The court ruled that Nagender stood disqualified from April 23, 2024, after he contested the Secunderabad Lok Sabha election as a Congress candidate while being a BRS MLA.
Sanjay also referred to Nagender’s comparison with the Khairatabad Ganesh idol. He questioned the comparison and referred to the annual immersion of the idol.

Sanjay said he wished Nagender a long life but claimed the Congress lacked the strength to challenge the BJP in the Khairatabad by-election.
The Election Commission has yet to announce the schedule for the by-election. The High Court declared the Khairatabad seat vacant following Nagender’s disqualification.
Nagender has challenged the High Court verdict in the Supreme Court and has reportedly sought a stay on the disqualification order. The BJP and BRS have filed caveats in the case.
Sanjay also criticised Congress leaders over their reported visit to a farmhouse linked to the BRS leadership.
He questioned whether private farmhouses should be treated as tourist destinations. He also questioned the authority of Congress leaders to enter private properties.
The BJP leader’s remarks come amid political activity ahead of the proposed Khairatabad by-election. Congress has said it is prepared to contest the seat, although it has not announced its candidate.
