Xiaomi 18 Pro | Internet, Sept. 21: Xiaomi will launch the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max in China on September 23, 2026. The launch event will begin at 7 pm local time.
The event will not include the standard Xiaomi 18, according to the supplied information. Xiaomi plans to launch that model later, potentially toward the end of 2026 or in early 2027.
Xiaomi confirmed key hardware details on September 20. The company also released black and white press images of the two smartphones.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro will feature a 7,000mAh battery. The Pro Max will carry an 8,500mAh battery. Both models will also feature Leica camera systems and HyperOS 4.
Xiaomi 18 Pro Battery and Camera Details
The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max will have 1,500mAh more capacity than the Pro. That represents about 21 per cent higher battery capacity.
The Pro Max will also have 1,000mAh more capacity than last year’s Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. Xiaomi says the new battery cells use 32 per cent silicon.
Silicon can hold more charge than conventional graphite based anodes. However, silicon can expand during charging and create durability challenges. The 32 per cent silicon content therefore represents a significant part of the battery technology.
Higher capacity does not automatically mean 21 per cent longer battery life. Actual battery performance depends on usage, processor efficiency, software optimisation and other factors.
The new battery capacities also do not represent the largest capacities available in smartphones. Some phones currently sold in the market feature batteries of 11,000mAh or more.
Both Xiaomi 18 Pro models will feature a 200 megapixel primary camera. They will also carry a 200 megapixel periscope telephoto camera.
However, Xiaomi has not disclosed the sensor sizes or aperture details. Therefore, identical megapixel counts do not necessarily mean identical image quality.
Xiaomi 18 Pro Gets Rear Display and HyperOS 4
The two smartphones will also feature a secondary display on the rear. Xiaomi first introduced the rear screen with the Xiaomi 17 series.
The company has made the new rear display larger and flush with the camera module. HyperOS 4 will also offer AI generated cards for the secondary screen.
Users can describe the card they want, after which the software can generate the design for the rear display.
Xiaomi says the new smartphones use a 2nm platform. The company has not yet disclosed the exact processor details in the supplied information.
Qualcomm will hold its Snapdragon Summit from September 22 to 24 in Hawaii. The company is expected to announce new Snapdragon 8 Elite processors during the event.
The Xiaomi launch will take place shortly after the Qualcomm event begins. However, Xiaomi has not confirmed the exact chipset details in the available information.
The 2nm manufacturing process allows tighter transistor integration. It can also improve power efficiency when compared with older manufacturing processes.
Xiaomi has not announced prices for the new models. The Xiaomi 17 Pro started at CNY 4,999, while the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max started at CNY 5,999.
Xiaomi president Lu Weibing said in May that memory for a 12GB and 512GB smartphone now costs about CNY 1,500 more than it did in early 2025.
The company has not confirmed whether higher component costs will affect the Xiaomi 18 Pro launch prices.
