Telangana Governor | Secunderabad, Sept. 25: Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla chaired the State Managing Committee meeting of the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund at Lok Bhavan in Hyderabad on September 24.
The committee reviewed welfare schemes for Ex Servicemen, Veer Naris, widows and their dependants.
It approved higher financial assistance under several existing schemes and introduced new welfare measures.
The Governor directed officials to ensure benefits reach eligible families quickly with minimal documentation.
He also called for greater awareness of the welfare schemes among eligible beneficiaries.

The committee approved mobility assistance for Ex Servicemen who require mobility support.
Under the scheme, 50 percent of the cost of a three wheeler motorised vehicle or three wheeler wheelchair will be reimbursed, subject to eligibility conditions.
It also approved reimbursement of 50 percent of school fees for children of Ex Servicemen with special needs studying in recognised special schools.
A medical grant of Rs 1 lakh will be provided to eligible non pensioner Ex Servicemen and widows.
The committee also enhanced the education grant for children of Ex Servicemen from Class I to degree level.
The grant has been increased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 17,000.
Monthly assistance for 100 percent disabled Ex Servicemen has also been increased from Rs 15,000 to Rs 18,000.
For special children below 15 years, monthly assistance has been increased from Rs 6,000 to Rs 8,000.
For those above 15 years, the assistance has increased from Rs 9,000 to Rs 10,000.
The marriage grant for daughters of Ex Servicemen has been enhanced from Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000.
Director of the Department of Sainik Welfare Brigadier N R Babu (Retd) briefed the committee on the proposed welfare initiatives.
The committee approved all the proposals to provide timely financial support to Ex Servicemen, widows and their dependants.
Senior officials and representatives from the Governor’s office, Finance, Home and Defence departments attended the meeting.
Major General G Srinivas, General Officer Commanding of Telangana and Andhra Sub Area, and other senior military and civil officials were also present.
The meeting focused on strengthening welfare support for the Ex Servicemen community and their families across Telangana.
