Hyderabad, Sept. 27: The Godavari River water level at Bhadrachalam crossed 40 feet on Sunday morning following heavy rainfall and increased upstream inflows.
The water level in the Telangana temple town, located in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, stood at just 17 feet two days earlier. However, it rose to 25 feet on Saturday evening before reaching 40 feet on Sunday.

Meanwhile, several steps at the bathing ghats in Bhadrachalam were submerged. Irrigation officials said the water level could rise further as inflows continue. Authorities will issue the first flood warning if the level reaches 43 feet.
In Andhra Pradesh, the Vamsadhara River in Srikakulam district remained in spate. However, flood levels in the Nagavali River have started receding. The district administration issued a second flood warning at the Narayanapuram Anicut on September 25.
Srikakulam District Collector advised residents of riverside villages to remain alert. Flash floods following heavy rainfall from the deep depression that crossed the coast on September 24 affected several villages.
Floodwaters damaged roads and cut off several villages. However, as water levels receded, authorities began restoring the damaged roads. Meanwhile, heavy rain and flash floods submerged agricultural fields, causing losses to farmers.
In East Godavari district, crops across hundreds of acres in Gopalapuram remained submerged for three days. Overflowing rivulets, streams and canals caused the flooding.
Farmers fear their crops could be completely destroyed if the water remains for another three days. Meanwhile, officials and public representatives have been visiting affected villages.
