Rahul Gandhi’s Arrest | Hyderabad, Oct. 6: TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud said that arresting Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi and other INDIA bloc leaders for questioning the irregularities in voter deletions and the S.I.R. process across the country is a serious blow to democratic values and principles.
Speaking to the media in Delhi on Tuesday, Mahesh Kumar Goud said it was highly condemnable that the police stopped INDIA bloc leaders who were peacefully and democratically proceeding to hold a protest before the Election Commission.
He said that while INDIA bloc leaders were fighting over a major issue concerning the country and democracy, the Narendra Modi government’s decision to obstruct them was the height of dictatorial rule.
He strongly condemned the manner in which the Centre dealt with the INDIA bloc MPs and leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and senior Congress leaders, who participated in the protest. He appealed to every believer in democracy to condemn the Centre’s actions.
Mahesh Kumar Goud alleged that the BJP, which has come to power by resorting to large-scale and arbitrary “vote theft”, is now trying to suppress the voices of INDIA bloc leaders who are questioning irregularities in the electoral process.
He strongly condemned the Centre’s actions against INDIA bloc leaders and said that such attempts to suppress democratic protests must be opposed by all democratic forces.
