Ashutosh Dixit As Appointed New IAF Chief | New Delhi, Oct. 7: The Central Government has officially appointed Vice Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit as the next Chief of the Air Staff. Consequently, he will assume charge as the 29th Chief of the Indian Air Force on the afternoon of October 31, 2026.
Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit succeeds current Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, whose tenure concludes on October 31. Upon taking charge, he will hold the rank of Air Chief Marshal.
Air Chief Marshal Ashutosh Dixit Brings Extensive Flying and Operational Experience Commissioned into the IAF fighter stream in December 1986, Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit is an experimental test pilot and qualified flying instructor.
Furthermore, he has flown over 3,500 hours across various combat aircraft, including the Mirage 2000, Jaguar, and LCA Tejas.
During his distinguished career, he served as Air Officer Commanding in Chief of Central Air Command and Chief of Integrated Defence Staff.
Additionally, he actively participated in key military operations, including Operation Safed Sagar and Operation Rakshak.
Meanwhile, defense experts note that his leadership will significantly boost the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, given his pivotal role in pushing indigenous defense projects like the LCA Tejas forward.
