Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy extended Bathukamma greetings to women and girls across the state on Saturday, October 10, as the nine-day floral festival began.
The Chief Minister wished people a joyful celebration filled with traditional songs, floral arrangements and cultural programmes. He encouraged women to celebrate the festival with enthusiasm, from Engili Poola Bathukamma to Saddula Bathukamma.
In his message, Revanth Reddy highlighted Bathukamma’s unique tradition of worshipping nature through colourful floral arrangements and offering prayers to Goddess Gauramma.

The Chief Minister described Bathukamma as a symbol of Telangana’s cultural identity and collective way of life. He said the festival reflects the unity of people who share their joys and sorrows.
He also highlighted the festival’s role in promoting women’s unity and preserving the region’s long-standing traditions.
Revanth Reddy said Bathukamma represents Telangana’s self-respect and cultural heritage. He added that the state government gives priority to environmental conservation, which aligns with the festival’s tradition of worshipping nature.
Bathukamma is celebrated across Telangana with flowers arranged in distinctive seasonal patterns. Women gather in public spaces, sing traditional songs and perform dances around the floral displays.
The celebrations culminate with Saddula Bathukamma, when the floral arrangements are immersed in water bodies as part of the traditional festivities.
