Hyderabad, Oct. 10: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud has alleged that the BRS is maintaining silence on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls because of a possible understanding with the BJP.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan, Mahesh Kumar Goud questioned why BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao and other senior leaders were not organising protests against the ongoing voter revision exercise.
He alleged that the BRS leadership was reluctant to confront the BJP and Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy. He claimed this silence had raised suspicions about a possible covert political understanding between the parties.
TPCC Raises Concerns Over Telangana SIR
Mahesh Kumar Goud claimed that around 90 lakh votes in Telangana faced deletion for various reasons. He alleged that the SIR process was being conducted with malicious intent and could affect eligible voters.
However, the figure represents the Congress leader’s claim and has not been independently established as the number of votes set for deletion.

The TPCC chief said the Congress would continue its efforts to protect every eligible citizen’s voting rights. He also expressed concern about the possible impact of the revision process on Dalit, minority and tribal voters.
Mahesh Kumar Goud recalled the tenures of former Chief Election Commissioners T. N. Seshan and J. M. Lyngdoh, saying electoral revision exercises had been conducted fairly during their periods in office.
He questioned the handling of the current process and alleged irregularities in the preparation and revision of electoral rolls. The Congress, he said, would continue raising these concerns through protests and other programmes.
The TPCC chief also claimed that Telangana and Punjab could become future targets in the BJP’s electoral strategy. He linked his concerns to the party’s allegations about voter deletions in other states.
The allegations of a secret BRS-BJP understanding and deliberate voter deletions remain claims made by the Congress leader. The available reports do not establish that the two parties have a covert pact or that 90 lakh Telangana voters are confirmed for deletion.
