New Delhi, Oct. 12: BJP leader and former Union Minister Anurag Thakur has challenged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to provide evidence for his claims about officials sharing information with him. Thakur also demanded an apology if Gandhi could not substantiate his allegations.
Gandhi had claimed that around 200 officials from the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Ministry of External Affairs were regularly sharing information with him. He also claimed that police personnel had supported Opposition protests.
Reacting to the remarks, Thakur urged Gandhi to stop what he described as “shoot and scoot” politics. He said political claims made in public or Parliament must be supported by evidence.
Thakur also referred to videos circulating online of the Opposition protests. He alleged that Congress leaders had shouted at, pushed and assaulted police personnel. He further accused Gandhi of pushing a woman constable and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra of manhandling police personnel.
Anurag Thakur Criticises Congress Over Ballot Paper Demand
Thakur alleged that Congress leaders frequently made accusations and later apologised in court. He also questioned the party’s demand to restore paper ballots, claiming that it could create opportunities for electoral malpractice.
He challenged the Congress to explain its position on election integrity and the alleged irregularities it had raised.

Thakur also responded to Gandhi’s remarks about protecting the Constitution. He accused the Congress of amending the Constitution to suit its interests during its years in power.
Referring to the Emergency, Thakur said Congress governments had imposed restrictions and jailed Opposition leaders. He argued that non Congress parties and citizens who resisted the Emergency had played a key role in defending the Constitution
