Raja Singh On Water Wastage In Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Oct 14 (Maxim News): Goshamahal MLA Raja Singh has urged the Telangana government to take strict action against the wastage of drinking water amid concerns over water shortages in several city localities.

He said reduced rainfall had already affected water availability in some bastis, with supply cuts causing difficulties for residents.

Raja Singh demanded that the Managing Director of Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) prepare an immediate action plan to address the situation and convene a meeting with MLAs to discuss water supply arrangements.

He said authorities should plan in advance for a possible escalation in water scarcity and clarify how drinking water would be supplied to localities that cannot be reached by water tankers.

He also called for a clear alternative supply plan covering the period from October to April.

The MLA expressed concern over statements by ministers suggesting that city residents might have to return to their native villages if water shortages worsened.

Raja Singh Seeks Fines for Drinking Water Wastage

Raja Singh also demanded strict action against people who deliberately allow drinking water to flow onto roads and go to waste.

He said such incidents were occurring in some bastis within his constituency and alleged that certain individuals were wasting water intentionally.

Citing Maharashtra as an example, the MLA said a fine of ₹5,000 was imposed there for allowing water to flow onto roads.

He called on the Telangana government to introduce similar penalties against those found deliberately wasting drinking water.
