29New Delhi, Oct. : Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has urged student groups across political affiliations to participate in the INDIA bloc’s November 1 march in Delhi, describing it as a movement to save democracy, end alleged “vote theft” and protect the Constitution.
In a video message posted on X on Thursday, Gandhi said the ‘Chalo Delhi’ march from Ramlila Maidan was not associated with any single political party but was intended to defend the country’s democratic values.
“The ‘Chalo Delhi’ Ramlila March is a march to save democracy, to put an end to the theft of votes, and to protect the Constitution,” Gandhi said.

The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha appealed to people dissatisfied with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to join the demonstration.
Gandhi also encouraged student organisations, irrespective of their political affiliations, to participate if they believed democratic rights, freedom of expression and their ideas were under threat.

He sought to reassure potential participants about police action, saying they should not be deterred by concerns over police deployment or the possibility of baton charges. He described the proposed march as a collective effort to defend the Constitution and the nation.
The INDIA bloc has also announced a “public impeachment” proceeding against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar on October 30 at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence at 10 Rajaji Marg. The opposition alliance is raising allegations of irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Following the event, the alliance plans to hold the ‘Dilli Chalo March’ against alleged “vote chori” on November 1, culminating in a rally at Ramlila Maidan.
The opposition’s campaign centres on allegations of electoral irregularities and demands for accountability from the Election Commission. The allegations remain the INDIA bloc’s claims, while the planned march is expected to bring together party leaders, supporters and other participants.
