Hyderabad, Nov 7 (Maxim News): Secunderabad Railway Station witnessed a surge in passenger traffic on Saturday. Many travellers headed to their hometowns to celebrate Diwali and Chhath Puja with their families.
In response, the South Central Railway (SCR) has introduced several measures to manage the festive rush. These arrangements aim to ensure smoother travel and passenger safety.
The SCR will operate 400 special trains on popular routes. Six major routes originating from Secunderabad will receive additional services.
The railway authorities will also attach extra coaches to existing trains. This will help accommodate passengers on waiting lists.
SCR Deploys Additional Staff and Security Personnel
The SCR has deployed additional staff at Secunderabad and other major stations. Help desks are operating to guide passengers and address their queries.
Extra ticket counters have also been opened for bookings and enquiries. Officials said more counters would be added depending on passenger demand.
Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and ticket checking staff are managing queues during peak hours.
The RPF has deployed 200 personnel to handle the festive rush. Security arrangements include CCTV monitoring and additional staff at circulating areas, platforms and trains.
Officials are also keeping a close watch for miscreants. Passenger safety awareness campaigns are part of the arrangements.
The SCR has advised passengers to book tickets early. Travellers should also reach stations well before their scheduled departure.
Railway officials have encouraged passengers to use online booking services. This will help reduce congestion at ticket counters. (Maxim News)
