Kolkata, Nov. 7: Former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee criticised the BJP-led state government over a puja programme organised on a main road in Kolkata. She alleged that the event blocked access to a nearby club’s puja arrangements.
Banerjee said puja celebrations had traditionally been held inside premises rather than on public roads. However, she alleged that organisers conducted the programme at a road junction on Friday night.
She claimed the arrangement obstructed their access and prevented them from carrying out their own puja activities. She also questioned the government’s decision to grant permission for the event on the main road.
Mamata Banerjee Warns Government Against Bulldozer Action
Banerjee described the alleged obstruction as an act of arrogance and oppression. She challenged the government over the possibility of bulldozer action.
“Do you want to bring bulldozers? Come, drive your bulldozers over our bodies,” she said, expressing anger over the incident.
