AICC Leaders Urge Forest DG To Shun Uranium Mining In Nallamala Forest
Hyderabad, Aug.28 (Maxim News): AICC secretaries Ch Vamshichand Reddy and SA Sampath Kumar on Wednesday called on Director General of Forests Siddharth Das and urged him to withdraw the proposals to take up uranium mining in the dense Nallamalla forest. They also submitted a representation to this effect.
In their representation, the two leaders told the DG about the protest programs being held by different civil society organizations against extraction of uranium mining in the forest by citing huge ecological and environmental damage in the forest area. They also told the DG that the mining would endanger the lives of the Chenchu tribals, who have been living in the forest since ages. The Director General reportedly responded positively on the representation submitted by the congress leaders and told that they would review their decision on the issue. (Maxim News)
