Kachiguda: Elderly Woman Found Dead in House

Hyderabad: The body of an 85-year-old woman was found in her house, with her gold ornaments missing and a 22-year-old woman caretaker absconding, in Kachiguda here on Saturday.

According to the police, S Kamalamma, 85, lived alone in her house at Chappal Bazaar in Kachiguda with her children living elsewhere in the city after arranging the woman caretaker through an agency.

The caretaker Lakshmi, 22, lived along with Kamalamma and took care of her for a salary of Rs.16,000 a month, police said.

On Saturday morning, Kamalamma‘s neighbours noticed that she had not come out of the house. Lakshmi too did not responde to the call of the milk vendor. Neighbours got suspicious and went inside the house to find her lying still on the bed with Lakshmi not to be found in the house. They informed her son Suresh, who reached the spot from his house in Nagole.

The Kachiguda police too was alerted and reached the spot.

“She was smothered to death with a pillow. Her jewellery including ear studs, bangles and a gold chain are missing. We suspect the caretaker woman killed her and fled with the ornaments,” said S Sudhakar, ACP, Kachiguda.

The police have booked a case and three teams are on the job to track down the absconding caretaker.
