Hyderabad, sept.25 (Maxim News): Roche Diagnostics India today announced the launch of its first cobas 8800 instrument for South India at Telangana’s first Molecular Lab and Centre of Excellence located in the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Hyderabad. The lab was inaugurated by Eatala Rajender, Minister of Health and Medical, in the presence of DrKandakatla Manohar, Director – NIMS.
Roche’s cobas 8800 instruments run the globally used RT-PCR test for SARS CoV-2ie. cobas
SARS-CoV-2 Test. This high throughputinstrument offers improved operating efficiency, flexibility and fastest time-to-results with the highest throughput providing first 96 results in about 3.5 hours and thereafter 96 samples every 30 min totaling upto 960 results in 8 hours.
Operating on the real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) platform,
SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic tests on the instrument detects the genetic signature (RNA) of the virus in a simple test performed by a healthcare provider using nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal swab samples. The test can be run simultaneously with other diagnostic assays provided by Roche Diagnostics, including HIV and Hepatitis.
