Ganja Worth Rs 55 Lakh Seized In Sangareddy

Sangareddy: Prohibition and Excise Department officials seized 280 kg of dry ganja at Muthangi Toll plaza on Outer Ring Road near Patancheru on Sunday while it was being smuggled in an SUV from Andhra-Odisha border to Zaheerabad area in Sangareddy district.
The excise sleuths led by Assistant Superintendent D Gayathri way-laid at the toll plaza following a tip off from the sources on Sunday morning. They have seized the 280 KGs of Ganja, packed into 140 cottons of 2KGs each, besides seizing the SUV. They also nabbed the two persons.
In a press Statement, KAB Satry, Deputy Commissioner Medak District, has said that two persons Banoth Tulasiram, a native of Govindapur in Zaheerabad Mandal and Byagari Tukaram, a native of Ramteerth in Nyalkal Mandal, were taking the Ganja. The Deputy Commissioner put the cost of seized Ganja at Rs 55 lakhs and that of vehicle at Rs 5 lakhs.
