70 Police Personnel Died of Covid in 2 Months: AP DGP

Andhra Pradesh DGP Gautam Sawang said the Police, as front-line workers, have been undertaking various measures to protect the public. In an interview with a media channel, the AP DGP said the casualty figure of the Police in the first phase was 110, and in the second wave of covid19, as many as 70 Police succumbed to covid in the last two months. ‘More than 5000 Police personnel have been infected,’ the AP DGP said. He has claimed that elections in Andhra and Tamil Nadu led to more infections. ‘I am proud to say that vaccination program has reached 98% among the front liners’, DGP Sawang said.

Reacting to pregnant police staff working from home during the second wave of coronavirus, the AP DGP said they need to do some tasks like collecting data and taking calls during the covid time. He has shared how the Police have been taking measures in the oxygen transportation from arrival to destination.
