Hyderabad: Two persons who were found manufacturing and selling tobacco products illegally were caught by the Commissioner’s Task Force (south) team on Sunday following a raid at an establishment in Mirchowk. The police seized tobacco products worth Rs 10 lakh from them.
Acting on a tip off, the team raided a shop at Mirchowk and caught two persons Shailender Prasad (55) and Sudesh Kumar (52), both residents of Khairatabad in the city.
The duo was running a store ‘Hyderabad Perfumes’ for last many years. “Due to loss in business during the lockdown, Shailender and Sudesh started manufacturing raw tobacco and were marketing it under the brand of ‘rocket zarda’ at their establishment,” said S Raghavendra, Inspector Task Force (south) team.
On information, the police team raided their establishment on Sunday and nabbed them. The police seized products valued at Rs. 10 lakh.
Both the persons along with the property seized were handed over to the Mirchowk police station for further action.
