Tension prevailed in Huzurabad after TRS, BJP activists fight

Hyderabad, Oct.30 (Maxim News): Huzurabad by-election in Karim Nagar district today saw tensions with TRS and the BJP activities coming to blows, as 61.66 percent voters cast their votes by 3 pm. It was expected to surpass 80 percent and may reach 90 percent by 7 pm. There were more women voters seen at the polling stations to cast votes, according to reports.

The polling which started at 7 am amid corona protocols saw tensions at some points as the TRS and the BJP activists fought by leveling allegations of money distribution.

Some villages saw fighting between the two parties at Gudur, Korapally and Veenavanka, Jammikunta and some other areas in the segment. The BJP activists protested against the TRS leader Kaushik Reddy for entering into a polling station in the name of polling agent. The Election Commission, though made arrangements for smooth and fair polls, there were tensions and fighting among the TRS and the BJP activists at various villages and polling stations in the segment.

At some places the BJP local leaders caught red handed some TRS leaders and handed over PS of MLA Aruri Ramesh to the police for distributing money to the voters. CP Satyanarayana said that no money was found at the house of Corporator Deepthi.

The BJP activists staged a protest at her residence alleging that TRS MLA Ramesh was distributing money to the voters to support Gellu Srinivas Yadav. However the CP denied that MLA was not there and said that the police took into custody three non local people.

BJP candidate Etela Rajender and his wife Jamuna cast their votes at Kamalapur polling station. The police seized the three vehicles of BJP candidate Etela Rajender and took into custody his personal secretary for violations of the poll code. In Jammikunta mandal tensions were seen as people queued up reportedly for money at the residence of local Sarpanch in Korapally village.

The polling saw tensions as the ruling TRS and the BJP activists came to blows at several polling stations. CEO Shashank Goel visited a few polling stations and took stock of the situation. He said that the EC will take serious action against those who violate poll code. (Maxim News)
