International Women’s Day: Hyderabad get its first female SHO
International Women’s Day: For the first time in the history of the Hyderabad City Police, a woman police officer has been posted as the Station House Officer (SHO).
On the International Women’s Day, Home Minister Mohd.Mahmood Ali along with City Police Commissioner C.V.Anand handed over charge to Ms.Madhu Latha, as SHO, Lalaguda PS.
International Women’s Day:
The Home Minister, Police Commissioner and other dignitaries also attended the Women’s Day Celebrations at St. Mary’s College auditorium, Secunderabad. All women officers of Hyderabad city Police attended the event.
The latest move seems to be only the beginning of government’s efforts to increase the number of women officers in law order posts and commissioner Anand said that on women’s day a special screening of Telugu movie Bheemla Naik has been arranged exclusively for women cops.
It is to mention here that on Monday, CV Anand was present at the ‘Gender Equality Run’ organized by the Hyderabad police SHE teams where the senior officer said, “Till now, no one was appointed as SHO as we thought that it was not a good tradition.
Women will henceforth be a part of law and order decisions. Our hope is that, of the total police force, 20-30% are women constables and sub-inspectors.”
The Hyderabad police commissioner stated that despite having “many family problems”, if their better halves are ready to support, women police officials can be SHOs and that the department is motivating them for the same.
