Central Teams Assess Damage Caused by Floods in Telangana

Hyderabad, July 23 (Maxim News): Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar held a briefing session with the inter ministerial central team led by Union Home Ministry Joint Secretary Sourav Roy, which toured the flood affected districts of Telangana during the last two days.

The team, who returned to Hyderabad on Friday night, was briefed by the Chief Secretary about the damage caused due to heavy rains in the State.

Senior central government officials, who came to Hyderabad on Wednesday last, travelled as two teams and visited several districts on Thursday and Friday.

Earlier, the central teams held a meeting with secretary disaster management Rahul Bojja and reviewed the situation in the State.

One team visited Nizamabad, Nirmal and Adilabad district while another team visited Jaishankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu and Bhadradri Kothagudem district to assess the damage caused by floods.

The team visited several villages to have a first hand information about the situation. The Chief Secretary thanked the central team for visiting the State and seeing the damage caused to irrigation projects, roads and damage caused to various departments.

The central team complimented the district administration, State government, NDRF teams, Indian Airforce, army teams for their coordinated efforts which have resulted in minimal loss of life inspite of heavy rains and floods.

Union Home department joint secretary Saurav Ray, Dy Secretary P Parthiban, Director K Manoharan, Ramesh Kumar, Deep Shekar, Shiv Kumar Kushwaha, A Krishna Prasad were part of the central delegation. (Maxim News)
