Satyavathi Lashes Out at Kishan Reddy over Bayyaram Steel Factory

Hyderabad, Sept.27 (Maxim News): Minister for Tribal Welfare Satyavathi Rathod lashed out at Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy for issuing a statement that the proposed Bayyaram steel factory in Mahabubabad district is not feasible due to various constraints.

Speaking at a press conference here on Tuesday, Minister Satyavathi Rathod along with Mahabubabad MP Kavitha and former minister Redya Nayak said that with the statement of Kishan Reddy, the Centre has poured cold water on the hopes of Telangana people, especially tribal and it has also proved that it can’t do anything for the development of Telangana State.

Stating that various expert reports, including the Geological Survey of India (GSI), Survey of India, and the Mining Ministry have suggested favor of setting up a steel factory in Bayyaram and stated that the availability of minerals in Bayyaram will be lasted for over 100-150 years.

“At first, Kishan Reddy should give clarity whether his statement is personal or the word of the union government. Even If it is a decision of the union government, people will definitely teach a fitting lesson to BJP leaders in Telangana in the days to come,” Satyavathi Rathod said.

She said that since the formation of Telangana State, Telangana leaders, including TRS working president KT Rama Rao made representation to the union government on several occasions urging to set up the steel factory in Bayyaram. The Centre has done nothing during the last eight years, now it is saying that the factory is not feasible citing the lame excuses, the Minister criticized.

Mahabubabad MP Kavitha said the proposal of setting up the Bayyaram steel factory was mentioned in the Andhra Pradesh Bifurcation Act and the Union government made a promise in this regard in the house of Parliament.

“After wasting the time of eight years, the Centre says that it is not possible to set up the plant. At first, Kishan Reddy should resign from his post and tender an unconditional apology to the people of Telangana for failing to fulfill the promise of the Steel factory,” Kavitha demanded.
