“Abhivyakthi”-an Art Exhibition at Dr. MCR HRD Institute of Telangana

Hyderabad, Feb 7 (Maxim News): “Abhivyakthi”- an Art Exhibition,was inaugurated here on Tuesday at Dr. MCR HRD Institute of Telangana, in collaboration with State Gallery of Art & Pegasus Art Gallery. A large number of officers, staff, trainees, and many other visitors appreciated the paintings by renowned artists from across the country.

Vinod K Agrawal, Director General & E O Spl. Chief Secretary to Government said that art is important for one and all as it encourages appreciation of finer aspects of life.“A large number of Government employees attend different training programs organized by the Institute and the exhibition will make them art-literates”, he added and called upon people from different walks of life to visit the Institute and enjoy the paintings before March 6th, 2017.

ThotaVaikuntam, renowned painter and National Award Winner, who inaugurated the Exhibition, said that a holistic approach to training that includes an exposure to art will be greatly instrumental in developing the overall personality of individuals. “Government employees play an important role in the contemporary society.They should also get exposure to different forms of art.

“Art is not meant merely for the Art Galleries alone. Art is everyone’s concern”, said Ms. Chandana Khan, Director, Pegasus Art Gallery and added that while science makes life comfortable, art makes it more enjoyable. Citing the example of educational institutions in Western countries, she called upon educational institutions in India to adopt a broad-based approach and give adequate attention to art that it richly deserves.“Art-literacy should not be confined to mere elite classes. Creating wider awareness about different art forms among all sections of society is the need of the hour”, she opined.

Dr. K Lakshmi, Director, State Gallery of Art, Govt. of Telangana said that the Government is fully committed to promote art in all possible ways; “We have initiated a number measures aimed at bringing art within the easy reach of the masses”, she added.

The exhibition will remain open for the general public from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm up to March 6th, 2017. (Maxim News)
