Pahalgam Terror Attack: Revanth Reddy Leads Candlelight Rally In Hyderabad
HYDERABAD, April 25: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy led a candlelight rally from People’s Plaza on Thursday evening to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the recent Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir.
Accompanying him were Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, PCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud, along with ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, advisers, and corporation chairpersons. A large number of Congress party cadres also took part in the rally, which aims to honour the memory of the victims and offer prayers for their souls. AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi and his party MLAs and leaders also participated in the rally.
The procession continued up to the Indira Gandhi statue.
Addressing the gathering, Revanth Reddy strongly condemned the brutal terrorist attacks targeting Indian tourists during the Pahalgam terror attack. He asserted that the Indian government must respond firmly to ensure such incidents are not repeated.
The Chief Minister emphasised that the fight against terrorism must transcend political differences, and pledged full support for every action undertaken by the Indian government in this regard.
Highlighting the need for unity, he urged all citizens to stand together to defeat terrorism and safeguard the nation’s sovereignty. He also demanded strict punishment for those responsible for the attacks.
Revanth Reddy expressed the Telangana government’s condolences to the bereaved families and called upon everyone to support them emotionally and stand by them during this difficult time.
Drawing historical parallels, he recalled that similar attacks had occurred in 1967 and 1971, and that then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had given a strong response, leading to the division of Pakistan into two countries—Pakistan and Bangladesh. He noted that Indira Gandhi had been compared to Goddess Durga by even her political adversaries like Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Appealing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Revanth Reddy urged him to emulate Indira Gandhi’s decisive leadership and deliver a fitting reply to the terrorist groups. He said that crores of Indians would stand firmly behind him and called for the reunification of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir with India.
