Hyderabad, June 1: Immigration authorities at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad, detained a passenger after allegedly discovering forged visa documents during routine travel checks.
According to officials, the passenger, identified as Munnu Swamy, was preparing to board a flight to Kuala Lumpur when immigration personnel examined his travel documents.
Authorities said the passenger completed the check-in process and proceeded for immigration clearance like other travelers. During document verification, officials reportedly noticed irregularities in the visa presented by him.
A detailed examination was subsequently carried out, following which the visa was suspected to be fraudulent. Immigration officials immediately detained the passenger for further questioning.
The matter was handed over to the airport police. Officials at the Shamshabad Airport Outpost Police registered a case and launched an investigation into the source of the alleged fake visa and the circumstances under which it was obtained.
Police are currently questioning the passenger and collecting additional information to determine whether any travel agents, intermediaries, or document-forgery networks were involved.
Officials have not yet disclosed further details regarding the investigation.
