Time Has Came To Replace Gas Stove With Alternative Ethanol And Water Based Stove: Nitin Gadkari

Nagpur/Hyderabad, June 1 (Maxim News): A cooking gas (LPG) cylinder is very important in almost every house in our country, from breakfast in the morning to dinner at night, all the cooking is done on it.  However, the increasing prices of gas cylinders have become a big burden for the common man.  To solve this problem, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has launched a “ethanol-based stove” technology.  He said that it will make cooking much cheaper than the commercial LPG cylinders used in hotels and businesses.

Nitin Gadkari, speaking at an event in nagpur, explained that this stove works by mixing ethanol with water.  he said that this technology, which is made in our country, is less expensive than the currently used gas and kerosene and is good for the environment.  he said that by missing about 7 percent ethanol in water, the heat required for cooking can be generated at a much lower cost than commercial gas cylinders.  If this experiment is successful on a large scale, it will not only reduce the burden on the household budget of the common man, but also reduce our dependence on fuel purchased from abroad.

Ethanol use in our country has increased rapidly in the last ten years.  Due to government incentives and support given to the bio-fuel sector, the ethanol blend in petrol, which was only 1.5 percent in 2014, has reached almost 20 percent by 2025.  Union minister Nitin Gadkari said that this ethanol-water stove is made entirely with our indigenous technology, which will reduce foreign imports and bring huge economic benefits to India.

Ethanol is a type of alcohol-based biofuel.  It is mainly made from sugarcane, corn and agricultural waste.

Benefits Of This

-It emits very little harmful gases like carbon monoxide when burned

-Air pollution in homes is reduced

-it is beneficial for farmers as it provides additional income to farmers who grow sugarcane and corn

-it reduces cooking costs and the burden of importing gas from abroad

Can LPG Really Be Replaced?

According to experts, although it sounds good, there are some practical challenges.  In India, the supply system of gas cylinders is already spread to every village and household.  To replace it with ethanol, an equally strong supply chain is needed, and people also need to trust it and get used to it.  Nitin Gadkari wants to bring 100% ethanol-powered fuel systems in the future.  Along with this, the government is also promoting green hydrogen, electric vehicles and biogas.

Producing enough ethanol to meet the needs of such a large population in the country is not an easy task.  It remains to be seen how successful this ethanol stove idea will be in real life.  (Maxim News)
