Delhi/Hyderabad, Sept 19 (Maxim News): The results of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections 2026 were declared on Saturday, with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) winning three of the four key posts.
ABVP’s Yash Dabas was elected president with 24,576 votes, defeating NSUI candidate Vijay Shankar Meena, who secured 22,523 votes. ABVP also won the secretary and joint secretary posts, while independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen secured the vice-president position.
Independent Candidate Wins Vice-President Post
Shokeen won the vice-president election with 30,615 votes, ahead of ABVP’s Ishu Maurya, who received 16,910 votes. NSUI candidate Vir Chatrath polled 4,313 votes. Shokeen is a former NSUI member who contested the election as an independent candidate.
For secretary, ABVP’s Riya Chhawdi secured 21,650 votes. Lakshya Raj Singh won the joint secretary post for ABVP with 16,615 votes.
The elections recorded a 40.46% voter turnout among more than 1.51 lakh eligible students. Vote counting was completed after 20 rounds under tight security. Delhi High Court directions barred victory rallies and celebrations following the declaration of results.
The newly elected DUSU central panel will represent students during the 2026-27 academic year.
