Hyderabad, Sept. 8: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught two people, including a government officer, for allegedly demanding a Rs 90,000 bribe in Narayanpet, Mahabubnagar district, on Tuesday.
The accused were identified as Sub-Registrar Grade-II L. Venkat Swamy and private employee Kammari Nagesh.
According to the ACB, Venkat Swamy allegedly demanded the bribe from a complainant who had approached the Sub-Registrar’s office for home registration work.
The officer had allegedly already accepted Rs 50,000 through Nagesh, a private employee, before the ACB action.
Both accused were subsequently produced before the Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases at Nampally and were sent to judicial remand.
ACB urges citizens to report bribe demands
The ACB urged citizens to report demands for bribes by government officers and public servants.
Complaints can be lodged through the ACB’s toll-free number 1064 or via WhatsApp at 9440446106. Citizens can also approach the bureau through its social media platforms.
The ACB said the identity of complainants will be kept confidential.
