Adilabad, July 29: Adilabad Police arrested two women on Wednesday for allegedly kidnapping a minor girl from Ruyyadi village and rescued the child within 12 hours of the incident.
Superintendent of Police Akhil Mahajan said the accused, identified as Naitham Gangubai and Gummadiwar Bharathi, were taken into custody for their alleged role in the abduction.
According to the police, the accused allegedly confessed that they had planned to sell the minor girl to a human trafficking network. The investigation is continuing.
Police formed special teams immediately after the girl was reported missing on Monday afternoon. Investigators examined CCTV footage from multiple locations across Adilabad town to trace her movements.
The teams located the girl at Mahalaxmiwada in Adilabad around midnight on Tuesday and rescued her safely.
The girl’s parents, Athram Jangu and Kapli Bai, thanked the police for tracing their daughter and solving the kidnapping case within 12 hours.
